In the 2025/2026 academic year, the Georgianum will be taking part in the ‘Humanitarian School’ certification campaign for the second time since 2019. The Youth Red Cross (JRK) within the German Red Cross Lower Saxony Regional Association certifies schools as ‘Humanitarian Schools’.
To obtain the certificate, pupils take part in the ‘h.e.l.p.’ simulation game and subsequently get involved in a humanitarian project they have initiated themselves. At the end of the school year, the participating schools are awarded the certificate.
A key element of the certification process is participation in the h.e.l.p. simulation game. The abbreviation “h.e.l.p.” stands for “Humanitarian Development and Learning Project” and is a role-playing game for 14 to 35 players aged 15 and over. What makes the simulation game special is that it is organised and run by pupils for pupils. To ensure it is run professionally, two Year 10 pupils took part in a special training seminar this school year to qualify as ‘humanitarian scouts’. This special training took place over a weekend in Einbeck back in November 2025.
The simulation took place on 9 March 2026 and 10 March 2026 at the Georgianum. Twenty-three pupils from Years 10 and 11 took part. During the simulation, the pupils re-enacted an international conflict between fictional countries. They put themselves in the shoes of delegates, developed their roles individually and discussed possible solutions together. The discussion rounds took the form of conferences and negotiations. Finally, the various groups met for a large closing conference.

On Friday (13 March 2026), the humanitarian project will take place: To this end, the school first-aiders organised a DKMS registration drive for Years 11, 12 and 13 and for visitors to the parents’ evening.
