at Georgianum

From sports classes to sports A-levels

As a sports-friendly school and talent school for sports, we live and breathe exercise, team spirit and passion. You can look forward to two hours of physical education per week.

Our sports classes in Years 5 and 6 train four hours a week at the highest level. In addition, you can look forward to exciting extracurricular activities, professional coaching and competitions such as "Youth Training for the Olympics".

Modern sports facilities, club partnerships and many additional offers such as skiing trips, active breaks and the opportunity to earn badges and licences open up new paths for you – right up to the sports A-level with advanced course.

Focus areas of the subject of physical education

Lower secondary education

(Years 5–10)

Compulsory subject in all years

Hours per week

  • 2 hours per week in class in all year groups

Contents

  • Areas of activity:
    • Games (e.g. basketball, handball, football, hockey, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, flag football)
    • Running, jumping, throwing (athletics)
    • Gymnastics and dance movements
    • Gymnastics and movement arts
    • Movement on rolling/gliding equipment (e.g. skiing)
    • Combat
    • Swimming, diving, water jumping
  • Objectives: Developing basic athletic skills, improving fitness and coordination, fairness, teamwork and enjoyment of movement

Special offers

  • Sports class in years 5/6 with increased physical activity
  • Sports clubs (including football, handball, tennis, rowing, DLRG)
  • Participation in competitions such as "Youth Training for the Olympics", city runs, school swimming championships

Upper secondary education

(Years 11–13)

Compulsory subject in Year 11

  • Continuation of practical physical education, preparation for upper secondary school

In the qualification phase

  • Basic course in physical education (gA)
    • One course per school semester from movement area A (e.g. swimming, athletics, fitness, rowing, gymnastics, dancing) and B (e.g. football, handball, basketball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, hockey)
    • Physical education at a basic level; 2 hours/week
  • Advanced course in sport (eA)
    • Sports at an advanced level; 6 hours/week
    • Preparation for physical education as an A-level examination subject as P1

Sports theory content (GK/LK, in-depth in LK)

  • Kinesiology: movement analysis, technique and tactics training
  • Sports biology & training theory: basics of athletic training, physical fitness and coordination skills
  • Sports sociology & sports psychology: sport and society, health, motivation, dealing with performance and competition

Ab nach Berlin heißt es für acht Schülerinnen und zwei Lehrkräfte vom Gymnasium Georgianum in Lingen. Das Volleyballteam qualifizierte sich für das Bundesfinale von Jugend trainiert für Olympia und fährt vom 5. bis 9. Mai nach Berlin.

Jana Mia möchte Polizistin werden. Und Jana Mia liebt es, Volleyball zu spielen. Mit Lina Köster traf die Schülerin aus der 5b am vergangenen Donnerstag auf eine volleyballspielende Polizistin. Lina zeigte auf, dass Beruf und Sport vereinbar sein können.
