Moments to remember

19. January 2026

Five minutes to go. The anticipation is written all over their faces. And there’s that slight nervousness too, which is always there when you’re really looking forward to something. Mr Glosemeyer gathers his team together and begins his speech: “We’ve been practising for weeks for this highlight. And so many spectators have come just for us. From now on, it’s all about taking it all in, soaking up the moments and really enjoying yourselves. Show how much fun you’re having and do everything with a smile. It’ll be fine.” Goosebumps. For the kids and for everyone in charge. We know that now is the moment. Because some things have to happen at the right time and in the right place; otherwise, we miss out on things and opportunities.

And then the performance began. And everything went according to plan. In fact, everything worked out. The basic choreography brought the fun right from the start, which also spread to the stands.

On the rings, Emily and Mr Glosemeyer were one, even if from the outside it looked like two rings.

On the trampoline, Mia and Auguste showed that they have a real talent for movement.

And then the whole team again, dancing and performing with ease and grace. And celebrating. With clapping hands and cool poses.

But the fireworks weren’t over yet. Time and again, golden confetti and new highlights. Now the somersaults over the vaults, culminating in Arne’s finale as he cleared the parallel bars with flying colours. All to the sound of AC/DC’s ‘Thunder’.

The musical transition from the powerful vault to the elegant balance beam was achieved with PINK and ‘Raise Your Glass’. The girls Paulina and Mette, who are in Year 13’s advanced sports course, performed in perfect synchronisation. They were particularly in unison during the handstand.

And then the finale with the forward somersaults by Jarno, Bennet, Thees and Jana Mia, as well as the routine by Greta and Auguste and the many synchronised rolls through the rings. And, of course, the simultaneous gymnastics routine by Auguste and Emily featuring a cartwheel turn and backward somersault.

The finale touched the heart. Because at the Georgianum, community, mutual support and togetherness are paramount. Work is also sometimes carried out across classes. Just like here: at the gymnastics extravaganza – Sports Class and Friends. A resounding success, peppered with moments that will last a lifetime.
