The Georgianum Grammar School has held the state award "Sportfreundliche Schule" (Sports-friendly School) continuously since 2008 – in 2024, the certificate was renewed for the fourth time. This recognises the school's special commitment to exercise, health and sport in everyday school life.

What does "sports-friendly school" mean?

The "Sportfreundliche Schule" (Sports-Friendly School) is an award presented by the state of Lower Saxony to schools that visibly embed sport, exercise and healthy living in their profile. The focus is on a combination of high-quality teaching, a wide range of extracurricular activities and close cooperation with sports clubs.

Regular recertification: only those who consistently meet high standards are allowed to continue to use the seal – at Georgianum, this has now been the case for over 16 years.

Best conditions

for sport and health

Spielerinnen einer Fußballmannschaft stehen im Kreis und feuern sich gegenseitig an.
  • Spacious sports facilities with two large halls, outdoor sports areas and – as a special feature – its own school swimming pool. Unique in the Emsland region!
  • Combining exercise, health education and personal development in the school programme.
  • Offers both talent promotion (e.g. sports classes, competitive sports) and support for motor deficits, for example in sports promotion lessons or in non-swimmer groups.
