Georgianum Grammar School will be awarded the DKMS School Seal in 2026

The German Bone Marrow Donor Registry (DKMS) awards the DKMS School Seal to schools that have organised and carried out at least three registration drives. This year, the Georgianum received the DKMS School Seal in recognition of the social commitment and great willingness to help shown by the pupils and staff.

Following campaigns in 2018 and 2023, the third registration campaign took place at the Georgianum in 2026. This year, the registration campaign was held as part of the ‘Humanitarian School’ campaign year. The pupils in the school first-aid team initiated the registration campaign and actively supported its implementation.

The Leukin e.V. association carried out the registration campaign at the Georgianum. Ms Winkler from the Leukin association informed the pupils in Years 11, 12 and 13 about the procedure for the registration campaign. She also explained the process involved in a potential stem cell donation. She spoke about the two brothers, Ben and Lio. As the brothers’ condition is life-threatening without treatment, this helped everyone appreciate the vital importance of stem cell transplantation.

Afterwards, the pupils had the opportunity to register. A total of 180 typing tests were carried out this year. This included some parents who took advantage of this opportunity. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this!

A big thank you goes to Ms Winkler and her team for the professional organisation and running of the registration campaign.
