As part of their lessons on values and norms, pupils in Years 5 and 6 explored what the term ‘values and norms’ actually means.
In doing so, they realised that we all live very privileged lives and that things and qualities that are important to us, such as education and a home, are easier for us to attain and possess than is possible for many other people in different countries around the world. This gave rise to a desire to do something themselves and to stand up for children who are not on the sunny side of life.
As there has been a tradition since 2007 of pupils supporting the Lingen-based charity “project: help e.V.”, they wanted to follow in this tradition and, starting immediately, raise money through private sector work placements to benefit children at the Crosspoint Academy in South Africa. All the children have received the list of sponsors shown here, which explains the details and which they will use until 17 May to find employers who will pay them for their work, with the money then to be donated to the charity.
